On October 1, 2005, the Needham Business Association presented another successful Harvest Fair. Again, the skies were bright and sunny and the crowds were large. The soup contest was attended by 450+ and there was a close competition for the Best Soup in Needham contest.
The soup vendors, Roche Brothers, Masala Art, Trader Joes, Bertucci’s , Briarwood Healthcare, Olin College, Wingate at Needham, Fuji Steak House and the Sheraton Needham, graciously served our judges Police Chief Thomas Leary, Fire Chief Paul Buckley, food connoisseur, Linda Muckerheide, Jennifer & Greg Kogos of New Orleans, and local authors Judy Gelman and Vicki Levy Krupp. The judges savored the soups closely and voted Wingate at Needham’s Silvio’s ‘shroom soup as their favorite. The general public confirmed the Judge’s choice, making Wingate a double winner!
Thank you to all that participated under the tent.
The 70+ business vendors on the common enjoyed large crowds and lots of face to face contact with their consumers. Several businesses commented on the great number of potential new customers that they connected with.
As with any large event, sponsorships are what make the event successful and possible… Louise Condon with her hayride and pumpkin sponsorship was one of the highlights of the day. Gary Donelan at Middlesex Savings Bank’s sponsorship of WODS radio made the day fun with music and prizes. Needham Oil and Air’s sponsorship of face painting, Halloween bag decorating and pumpkin decorating made the kid’s smile. Coca Cola with their games on the grass were exciting and fun. Century 21-’s pony rides are highly anticipated by the younger crowd. The commitment of Roche Brothers, Needham Co-operative Bank, North Hill, Middlesex Savings Bank, Law Offices of Gilbert W. Cox., Jr, Needham Oil & Air, Condon Realty, Fastsigns, Hillcrest Electric, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Dedham Savings Bank, Century 21 the Alexanders, Coca Cola, & Provider Insurance Group allowed the NBA to provide a fun safe and publicized (thanks Needham Times!) community event that brought friends and neighbors together in the downtown. The NBA greatly appreciates the generosity of these committed businesses.
Thank you to the Needham Fire Department, Needham Police Department, Selectman’s office, Department of Public Works, Department of Health for their support in making this a safe day!
The Great Plain Squares, Plugged In Teen Band Program and Papa the Clown were a great entertaining addition to this community event. Thank you!
Finally, the NBA Harvest Fair Committee, Kathy Lewis of Realty Consultants, Fred Sklar of Joel’s at Needham, Charlie Wagner of The Wicker Lady, Dick Atkinson of Needham Oil & Air, Lynne Maimon of Bundles of Joy, Gina Herron of Briarwood Healthcare, Pete Brings of Banknorth, Jack McQuillan of Taylor’s Stationery (our advisor), Carol delemos (our consultant), Regina Pineo of the NBA, & Kate Tedoldi of Tedoldi Consulting, met weekly at Bagel’s Best to plan for the event. Thank you to the committee for your hard work and dedication. Day of event help, Betsy Tedoldi of Condon Realty, Carol delemos & Cindy Somers of Paychex, we appreciate your hard work!
